The Bog

This photo was taken in London, Ontario at the Sifton Bog.

This area is a huge conservation area in London and is home to lots of wildlife including many families of deer. However many of the deer are being "culled" because of their hazards and intrusion into the surrounding neighborhoods. It's interesting to look at it on google maps and see the landscape of London and how it has been developed. There are very little "wild" areas left at all.

The area is caused by an ancient glacier that got stuck there and melted to create a lake. After time, the earth grew into it and peat moss starting creeping into the lake and taking up its space. Now there is more land and forest and still lots of peat moss.

I will be living near this bog for the next little while, and I hope to meet my dear friends again...

Oh yah, I also found out about this organization called "ReForest London" that works to get citizens out planting trees together.
Pretty sweet. I think I'll jump on the bandwagon. I am thinking of setting up a little greenhouse on the lawn this summer. More details to come...

Thanks for watching!

London is lucky to have your energy "replaced" there!
